What is this service?
Dementia In-Home Respite is a service for carers of people with moderate to severe dementia who are living at home. The service is designed to support carers in continuing their role. Priority for this service is given to carers with Polish, Arabic and Vietnamese backgrounds but access is open to all.
Do I need this service?
Yes, if you are a carer of a person with dementia and moderate to high support needs and require support to continue maintaining this role.
Is there a limit to the assistance available?
Yes, the assistance is limited to a maximum of five hours in-home respite per week. Being eligible for this service, however, does not mean you will automatically receive it as there is a high level of demand.
Will this service cost me money?
A financial contribution is expected for this service. However, you will not be refused this service if you are unable to pay for it.
